• Labyrinths

Laura has been walking and studying, designing and building temporary and permanent labyrinths for over twenty years. Her path weaves together all of the pieces of her life as a labyrinth facilitator, landscape architect, healing garden designer, business woman, and mentor. She finds great joy in walking and sharing the labyrinth with others.

The labyrinth is a powerful healing modality that can help to awaken creativity, to assist in the grieving process, as a place for celebration and the marking of milestones, and as a place for exploration of challenging issues or questions. Building on Laura’s expertise and study of the labyrinth, she is excited to share the labyrinth with others through facilitated walks with groups or individuals, workshops, collaborations, events and retreats, and in the design and construction of temporary and permanent labyrinths. The labyrinth is a wonderful tool for growth and conversation.

  • Consulting

Laura is excited to share her experiences as a successful business woman with others in consultation around conflict resolution, leadership development, firm transitions, succession planning, team building, and general strategic planning. She is adept at bringing people together in a safe place, so that they can feel valued and heard, empowered to speak and contribute at their highest level.

Laura is currently working with the Glenwood Historical Society on a strategic plan to guide the organization over a one-year, three-year, and five-year timeframe. She is also assisting True Nature Healing Arts with a strategic plan focused on the long-term health and sustainability of the community Peace Garden; the plan will consider both operational and capital improvements.

Laura’s background includes a thirty-one-year career with DHM Design, a Colorado based landscape architecture and planning firm, opening the organization’s first branch office in Carbondale in 1998. As DHM’s first woman President and Managing Principal, Laura guided the legacy of the company with a focus on staff development, culture, recruitment and retention; firm branding and marketing; strategic planning; financial management; and overall corporate health. She understands the importance of a positive work environment with a clear vision for both collective and individual success. Throughout, she carved her own path of leadership, with a commitment to mentorship that has inspired future leaders, laying strong foundations for career growth and success.

In addition to her professional career, Laura has been an active community volunteer. Currently, she serves as a mentor for first generation students through the pre-collegiate program at Roaring Fork High School, a member of the Arts and Architecture Commission for Saint John’s Cathedral in Denver as well as Chair of the Grants Committee responsible for distribution of funding to non-profits in the Denver area. Past volunteer efforts include serving as a Foundation Trustee for the True Nature Healing Arts Center and past President of the Board for the Third Street Center in Carbondale. She also worked as the Executive Director for the Glenwood Springs Downtown Development Authority with a mission of creating vitality for the downtown area.

  • Design

Laura enjoys the diversity of landscape architecture with its constant cycle of discovery, challenge and gratification. She relishes the opportunity to work with others to create landscapes that heal and enhance the human experience and to explore the transformative powers of the landscape.

A fourth generation Colorado native, Laura’s roots as a landscape architect were embedded in her childhood. With a graduate degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver, she has been inspired by the western landscape and its power to heal, inspire, and connect.

Laura practiced as a landscape architect with DHM Design, a Colorado based landscape architecture and planning firm, from 1991-2022. As a landscape architect and project principal, she participated in a wide range of projects in the private and public sector including hospitality projects, the planning and design of affordable housing, downtown master plans, campus design, parks and recreational facilities, and residential projects; several of those garnering awards at the state and national level.

Notable work includes the True Nature Healing Garden where she collaborated with the design team and visionary owners to create a therapeutic environment shaped to support the healing work undertaken at the yoga studio and spa. The design incorporates several healing modalities and celebrates the connection between land and spirit, featuring a labyrinth, reflexology path, outdoor yoga classroom, and kiva building with Zen garden and green roof.
